Type Locality and Naming
Erlian Basin. Type section at Hugejiletu close to Gegu Well no.1, in well interval of 322–676.5 m, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Lithology and Thickness
The Hugejiletu Formation is mainly composed of synorogenic conglomerate, breccia, and pebbly sandstone.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformity onto Xinganling Gr (Bulagenhada Fm)
Upper contact
The Lower Aershan Fm rests on the Jurassic strata (e.g., Hugejiletu Fm or the Xinganling Gr) with an angular unconformity (named as T11 in seismic reflection sections).
Regional extent
"The Hugejiletu Formation is sporadically discovered in the Erlian Basin, and is formed due to contemporary compressional deformation during the latest Jurassic–earliest Cretaceous"
